Brokeback Mountain, Mormons, Neo-Nazi's, Idaho and other CLINICAL IGNUNCE!

So I am going to see Brokeback Mountain this weekend I am very excited! It is finally coming to the very RED state of Arkansas and that makes me proud. Why does that make me proud you ask?

LET ME TELL YA!

There are places in this nice free? country of ours that are refusing to show it. There are some theaters in Utah and apparently the state of West Virginia has even talked of banning it all together! WTF?????????????? Even Heath Ledger has spoken of it being hilarious yet very immature of a society such as the US. I agree, I mean lets get real we dog others for their media controls yet we have this sort of behavior in our country. Typically this is done in the name of religion, which blows my mind, last time I looked the constitution doesn't establish us as a religious nation. Only a nation where religion is free but so is everything else including the media.

Speaking of religion, has anyone out there ever hought about how many Mormons there are in Idaho? The other group there seems to be a lot of in Idaho are neo-nazi's and white supremacists. WTF????? this was just something that came to mind the other day, I mean really remember Ruby Ridge? Religious fanatics, white supremacists, and they hated the government. Is there something in the water up there???

Anywho, enough of my soapbox for today!

Note that the First Amendment only becomes relevant if the GOVERNMENT of the State of Utah (or elsewhere) decides to ban the film.

However, it is perfectly legal (and constitutional) for a private business owner to show or not show any given film.

That said, it was a poor economic decision with little moral value to compensate.

Eh, I am just on a rant about the silliness of it.

Being legal and constututional still does make something non-ignunt.

Hi Tim!

So nice to see you again. I miss your postings :) And I am also glad to hear that you are feeling better now. Never fun to be sick.

About this movie, I don't know what it is about. But it is never okay to stop a movie or text in anyway.. The freedom of speach.. But on the other hand, if it is a propaganda movie let say for the nazist,Then we have an issue, since they are all dangerous. But dispite that.. don't they have the right of their belifes as we do?

Shit.. humans rights is the hardest thing to rant about , so I give up :)

Take care !!!

Great to see you @ Brokeback last night. I think Little Rock showed that they are not as homophobic as I thought. There are some, but I actually know quite a few straight people that went and watched it last night. And boy did all of us show up in full force for the 7:10pm showing. Sold out and felt like a Cher concert. I knew half the crowd I think. Loved it by the way. I am such a sappy cry baby. HAHA Bye Tim!! :)

I don't keep up on the news, but if legislators in the state of WV plan to "ban" the movie, then there may be some backlash from the gay communities here in the state. If they do not "ban" the movie, there may only be one or two theatres in the state that would be willing to show the movie, one of which would include the Elk Theatre in Sutton, WV.

Truly sad.

UPDATE: Brokeback will be showing in select theaters in WV. That's good news.
